Discover the capital of the conquerors of the old world in Persepolis and explore the majestic masonry creations of the Achaemenids in Pasargadae, Bishapour and Naqsh-e Rostam.

The expedition will begin in Shiraz an enchantress of a city that leaves all visitors enamored with its ancient ruins, lush Persian Paradise Gardens, marvelous mosques, extravagant mansions and warm-hearted, hospitable people.

Shiraz

Day 1: Begin your journey with sightseeing in Shiraz. Visit the 18th century Vakil royal district, the tomb of Saadi, the bard whose poem graces the entrance to the Hall of Nations of the UN building in New York, and Hafezieh, the garden where the poet of love Hafez has been laid to rest. Enjoy a cup of aromatic orange blossom tea or rosewater scented ice-cream in Hafezieh while consulting Hafiz poems to see what the future may bring!

Day 2: Spend a day outside the city visiting the first Achaemenid capital in Pasargadae and the tomb of Cyrus the Great, who created one of the first Human Rights Charters known to man after freeing the Jews in 537 BC from captivity in Babylon, and the Achaemenid ceremonial capital in Persepolis.

Let the four gargantuan Achaemenid tombs hewn out of a high cliff at Naqsh-e Rostam take your breath away. You will be amazed by the six massive rock reliefs capturing the stories of the Sassanids and left intrigued by the Cube of Zoroaster and its unexplained origin and function.

You will have time to explore the lively nightlife of Shiraz and dine in one of its many modern restaurants like the Haft Khan (seven labors) Restaurants or the newly-opened restaurant made entirely of salt.

Day 3: Shiraz still has more to offer! Spend your last day visiting lavishly decorated Qajar structures like the Pink Mosque Zinat ol-Molouk House and Qavam Mansion.

Take a stroll through the city and shop for souvenirs before its time to head for the airport.
