Cheshmeh-Ali (Ali’s Spring) is an 8,000-year-old spring in Rey. In the olden days carpet weavers and sellers believed washing their rugs in the water of this spring would ensure their cleanliness and shine. Excavations of the mound near this spring have yielded artifacts from different pre-Islamic eras some of which are housed in the National Museum of Iran as well as museums all over the world.
