Shemshak Ski Resort is located in a village of the same name in the Alborz Mountains of Tehran. The resort opened in 1959 and is currently the third largest ski resort in Iran after Dizin and Darbandsar.
With an altitude of 3,050 meters above sea level, Shemshak usually attracts more advanced skiers seeking Utah light powder and steep slopes to tackle.
Located 57 kilometers northeast of Tehran, Shemshak is a 90-minute drive from the city depending on the route chosen and weather conditions. The ski season in Shemshak starts from late November and usually last until early April.
This ski resort has a snow depth of two to four meters and a vertical drop of 550 meters. The lowest piste at Shemshak is at an altitude of 2,550 meters above sea level.
Shemshak is a great place for adventurous skiers, snowboarders and cross country skiers. Many of the skiers coming to Shemshak are looking to challenge themselves with the advanced terrain and mogul runs of the resort.
Locals of Shemshak are often among the country’s ski champions and many are instructors at the resort’s ski school. This ski school offers lessons for beginner, intermediate and even advanced skiers. Ski lessons are also available for kids. The resort has ski equipment rentals for those who do not wish to bring their own gear.
Shemshak has 3 platter lifts, 2 button lifts and 2 chair lifts that transport skiers to different altitudes. The resort has special yellow lighting which allows skiing at night.
Shemshak is the second Iranian ski resort after Dizin to be recognized by the International Ski Federation and to meet FIS criteria for hosting international ski competitions and events.
This resort has one hotel, a host of chalets and a number of apartment complexes that accommodate skiers and snowboarders after a day in the snow. Shemshak accommodations range from self-catered to fully- catered lodgings. The resort has four international and fast food restaurants, and a few cafes.
The pleasant weather of Shemshak also attracts many visitors during the warmer months of the year. With its restaurants and lively cafes, this resort is a popular hangout spot, ideal for those who seek to escape the summer heat of the city.
In the summer, visitors can engage in mountain climbing, mountain biking, trekking, paragliding and hang gliding. The cable cars can be used to reach higher altitudes and enjoy the beautiful nature of the resort.

One of the best ski resorts in Iran, sure it is a bit difficult but the weather and facilities make up for it i love it here :)
It's 45 minutes drive from Tehran and weather is good most of the season, also restaurants around the slope are a perfect place to hang with your friends after a day of skiing.
I started Ski here and have to say coaches here are among the best :) especially for Alpine Skiers
You will enjoy skiing here and if you rent a chalet you will continue to have fun after ski and enjoy the view and a beautiful weather here :)
It's a bit difficult for me but I go from time to time, advance skiers love it here and you are very close to Darbandsar and Dizin resorts
Amazing powder and awesome slop. as for accommodation, i recommend you rent a private house around the resort instead of going to the hotel.
Night Ski here is amazing, they are the only slope that is open in nights and everybody enjoys this happening :)
Backcountry Skiing here is also an adventure but make sure you go with professional guides and you will enjoy one the best ski trips you have had :)
I really enjoy the after Ski events and gatherings with friends at the nearby Cafes here. it's really a happy and alive place :)
Night piste in a fun event and we go there with my friends every weekend :)
