Mellat Museum opened in 1981 in Saadabad Palace in the former residence of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The museum houses Persian carpets, Iranian and Western paintings, exquisite chandeliers, and porcelain as well as a desk belonging to Marie-Antoinette.
