Gargar Channel is an Achaemenid era (550-330 BC) manmade river north of Shushter. This manmade channel separates from Karoun River behind the Sassanid (224–651 CE) Band-e Mizan dam. Gargar Channel was registered as a National Heritage Site in 2007. The channel is part of the UNESCO registered Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System.
