The Grand Mosque of Qom is located next to the Fatemeh Masoumeh (AS) Shrine and is considered part of the shrine complex. This mosque was built through the efforts of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Boroujerdi (1875-1961).
This three-iwan (a vaulted hall, walled on three sides and open on one side) mosque has a 24-meter dome. The mosque is one of the main locations for seminary classes in Qom where Grand Ayatollahs like Naser Makarem Shirazi (1926) and Hossein Vahid Khorasani (1921) teach an average of 5,000 students every day.
