The house, which was once the residence of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Boroujerdi (1875-1961), was built in 1894 based on the inscription above its door. Ayatollah Boroujerdi revived the Qom seminary (Howzeh) after the death of its founder Grand Ayatollah Abdolkarim Haeri Yazdi (1889-1937). It is said that from 1945 until his death in 1961, Ayatollah Boroujerdi was the sole Source of Emulation in the Shia world.
The house was registered as a National Heritage Site in 2006.
