Gooran Historical Dam is located 80 kilometers from Qeshm city in a village of the same name. This dam dates back to the pre-Islamic era. In the Achaemenid (550-330 BC) and Sassanid (226 - 651 CE) eras, the inhabitants of Qeshm Island built dams in straits and valleys to collect rain water for drinking and for irrigation, the remains of which can be seen to this day.
