Sheikh Taj al-Din Ebrahim (1216–1301) better known as Sheikh Zahed-e Gilani was an Iranian Sufi master and the teacher of Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili (1252–1334) who founded the Safaviyya Sufi order and became the eponym of the Safavid dynasty (1501–1736).
Located at the foot of a mountain 4 kilometers east of Lahijan among the lush rice and tea fields of Sheykhanbar Village is a mausoleum that is believed to have been built by a Safavid noble in honor of Sheikh Zhed.
The mausoleum consists of two rooms and is surrounded by balconies with 19 columns on three sides. The structure has an octagonal turquoise dome and blue, yellow, white and black tilework with arabesque and floral motifs, which are believed to have been Qajar era (1785-1925) additions.
The Sheikh Zahed-e Gilani Mausoleum was registered as a National Heritage Site in 1968.
