Yazdgerd Fortress is a complex consisting of several Sassanid (224-651 CE) structures. Locals believe this fortress was where Yazdegerd III (590-651 CE) and his daughter took refuge after the Arab attack. Archeological studies have found that the structures in the complex date back to both the Parthian (247 BC–224 CE) and Sassanid eras. The complex includes a 2.5 kilometer-long-wall, fire temple, chapel, residential sector, and garrison.
