The three rock-hewn Essaqwand Tombs in Kermanshah Province are believed to have been ossuaries belonging to the Median (678 -549 BC), Achaemenid (550-330 BC), Parthian (247 BC–224 CE), and Seleucid (312 -63 BC) eras. The middle tomb has a bas-relief of a man holding his hands in prayer with a torch and a fire altar in front of him. Another figure has been carved behind the fire alter with its arms raised towards the heavens.
