Cyrus the Great’s Winter Palace or Charkhab Palace is the remains of an unfinished structure which resembles the Apadana Palace of Shush. It is believed that Cyrus (576-530 BC) had ordered the construction of this palace near Susa (modern day Shush), one of four capitals of the Achaemenid Empire (550-330 BC), but construction was abandoned after his death. Today, 10 pedestals have been uncovered at the site, which resemble those found at Pasargadae.
