Ardeshir Pavilion is the ruins of a Sassanid structure made of loose stones and Sarooj (mix of lime and clay) mortar. Due to its architectural style and its resemblance to the Firouzabad Palace in Fars Province, this rectangular structure it is attributed to Ardashir I (180-242 CE) the Unifier, and has been named after the founder of the Sassanid dynasty (224–651 CE). The structure has Sassanid-style arches. Some have speculated that the pavilion was used as a place to rest for the Sassanid royals when on hunting expeditions in the area.
