Archeology Museum

The Archeology Museum of Ardabil is part of the Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili Shrine complex and opened in 2008. This two-story museum displays items from the pre-Islamic and Islamic eras.

The first floor and basement of the museum include displays of plain and patterned earthenware from different historical eras, grey vessels, ceramic vessels with Ardabil patterns from the Achaemenid (550-330 BC) and Parthian (247 BC–224 CE) eras, and rhytons from the first millennium BC.

The Islamic pottery display of the museum holds some of the finest examples of Islamic and Ardabil pottery and includes turquoise vessels, patterned multicolor vessels, embossed vessels and blue and white pottery.

The museum has a glassware display that showcases items from the first millennium BC to the Sassanid era (226-651 CE) as well as items belonging to the Islamic era.

The museum has coin displays in which gold, silver and … coins from the Sassanid era to the Islamic period are exhibited.
