Shater Tower also known as Shater Dome is an Ilkhanid (1256–1335) structure in Sowmaeh Village. Located approximately 6 kilometers from the city of Ardabil, the tower is surrounded by ancient mounds which date back to the pre-Islamic era, particularly the Parthian era (247 BC–224 CE). The tower is a decagon on the outside and cylindrical from the inside. The entrance is located on a stone platform on the eastern side of the tower. Six steps lead to the entrance. Not much remains of the inscriptions or façade of this tower. Shater Tower was registered as a National Heritage Site in 2002.
