Karoun River Wetlands are located between 55 kilometers northeast of Ahvaz city. These wetlands dry in mid-summer but have several deep ponds which are the habitat of various birds. Popular among bird watchers, the notable birds of Karoun River Wetlands include marbled duck, Iraq babbler, geese, common crane and heron.
