The Hindu Temple of Bandar Abbas is a late Qajar (1785-1925) era structure located across from the Daily Market of the city and was built by the Hindu merchants of Bandar Abbas who lived in the city from 1921 to 1965. The temple resembles the temples of India and consists of a domed central room with four hallways on each side. The dome has moqarnas decorations and is considered unique among the domes found in Iran. The temple is adorned with religious paintings. After Hindu merchants left Bandar Abbas in 1965, the temple was abandoned until the Cultural Heritage Office of Hormozgan Province renovated it a few times. The Hindu Temple was registered as a National Heritage Site in 1998.
